Bettering your game is important as a soccer player. The following bits of advice will help improve some old skills and introduce some new ones. Keep on reading and you’ll be better equipped to win at soccer games by working with your team.

Always keep your eyes open. If you are fortunate enough to get the ball, pass it to the person that you think can advance toward the goal, even if that is not you. Be selfless in order to help your team win. However, in order to follow this piece of advice, you have to be vigilant and know what is happening on the field at all times.

The best thing to do is to pass the soccer ball when you notice a defender starting to close in on you. Hold on to the ball until you can no longer safely advance, and then pass the ball to another teammate. Once you pass, the other player can figure out what to do next.

Don’t hesitate to move the ball to an open teammate if you find yourself pressured by the opponents. That will give them time as the defenders approach them to figure out what to do next.

Always look for an easy pass you can make to a player who is open. Do not try passing the ball to the best player on the team if they are not in a good position. Do not hesitate to make a pass to an inexperienced player if they are wide open.

You need to make decisions quickly when you play. If you hesitate for a second, you are taking the risk to lose the ball. Making fast decisions will become easier as you practice and get to know the players on your team. Always scan the field to see what other players are doing even if you do not have the ball.

To boost stamina when you play soccer, try training during the off-season via long-distance running. Typically, a soccer player runs for about eight miles per game. By running a lot, you can have increased stamina so you’re able to play soccer better without taking as many breaks.

In order to be on the main team, you must show a combative spirit as a soccer player. Always show an assertive spirit. By giving the coach the impression that you really care about soccer, you’ll have more of a chance of getting selected for the team.

When kicking a long kick to a teammate, approach the ball at a 35 degree angle. This allows you to fully use your kicking leg at full force. Use your arms to help you keep your balance while placing your non kicking foot directly beside the ball. Keep the ball close to the ground for best results.

Learn to dribble effectively. To keep the ball in control at all times, keep the ball close to you and gently tap the ball using the inside and outside of your feet. Keep your eyes on the ball for best results and protect the ball by using your body to keep opponents away.

When making a shot remember that wider is better than higher. Wide shots cause the goalie to really stretch. If you can manage to shoot a wide shot that is close to the ground, you will most likely score because the goalie will need to stretch and will not have good control over his body.

Practice using your weaker foot. This can be done alone by kicking the ball against the wall or with your team. For an interesting game, have everyone on your team to split into two teams. The only rule is that all dribbling and shooting must be done with the weaker foot. By practicing with the weaker foot, you will soon be able to shoot as equally well with your weaker foot as your stronger foot.

Increase your reflex time by doing this exercise. Stand on a sturdy structure that is approximately three feet off the ground. Jump off the object and land in a squat position with both of your feet planted on the ground. Quickly stand up and run as fast as you can.

If the field is going to be muddy, wear shoes that are made to grip under slippery conditions. One of the methods the pros prefer is to use soft removable cleats. Select wider cleats when playing in damp conditions. On such shoes, a pair of cleats sit at the heel, while four are placed midsole.

Start putting this information to use. You’ve gone over a bunch of great advice and it can be used to help you play a better game. Think over everything you’ve learned and keep working on learning new things to share with your teammates. Remember to enjoy yourself!
